A private ENT appointment puts an ear, nose and throat specialist on your problem, whether that's hearing loss, tinnitus, sinusitis, snoring, recurrent tonsillitis, voice changes or a sore throat that won't go away. The consultant will examine you, often using a small camera (an endoscope) to see the nose and throat directly, and agree a plan that might include hearing tests, scans or a minor procedure.
Prices depend on the consultant and location, and anything done during the appointment itself, such as microsuction ear wax removal or a nasoendoscopy, may be included or billed on top. Ask what's covered when you book, so you're comparing like with like.
ENT symptoms rarely sort themselves out while you wait, and NHS referrals for non-urgent problems can take months. Privately you can usually self-refer, see a specialist within days, and get any follow-up tests arranged quickly.
