Clinics offering mole removal
Good to know before you book
Private mole removal and skin tag removal both mean having a lesion assessed and taken off, usually in a single short visit under local anaesthetic. Moles are typically removed by excision or shave removal so the tissue can be checked in a lab, while skin tags, cysts and other benign lesions are more often dealt with by shave removal, cryotherapy (freezing) or laser, since there's rarely anything worth sending for testing. A reputable clinic will still look at what you have before removing it and refer anything suspicious for a proper assessment rather than just taking it off.
Skin tag removal is usually priced per lesion or per small batch, so removing several tags in one visit often costs more than a single mole. Mole removal price depends on the method, the size and position of the lesion, and whether the histology (lab analysis) fee is included in the quote. Some clinics also charge a consultation fee separately from the removal itself, so it's worth checking what's bundled before you compare prices.
The NHS generally won't remove a mole or skin tag for cosmetic reasons, so if one bothers you but isn't clinically concerning, private treatment is usually the only route. And if a mole has changed shape or colour, don't wait: a private dermatology appointment can usually be arranged within days.
