A private GP appointment gives you proper one-to-one time with a doctor, usually 15 to 30 minutes, which is noticeably longer than the typical NHS slot. There's time to actually talk things through, and the GP can examine you, prescribe medication, arrange blood tests or scans, and refer you on to a specialist privately or back into the NHS.
What you'll pay mostly comes down to how long the appointment is, where the clinic is and how you're seen. Central London costs more than the suburbs, video appointments are often cheaper than in-person ones, and some prices include a prescription or basic tests while others add them on. On Keystone, published prices currently run from around £67 to £465, with most clinics between £90 and £225.
Most people book a private GP because they can't get an NHS appointment soon enough, want a longer conversation about something complicated, or need a referral letter quickly.
