Clinics offering dermatology consultation
Good to know before you book
A private dermatology appointment gets your skin, hair or nail problem in front of a specialist. Mole checks, acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes and hair loss are the most common reasons people book. The consultant will examine your skin (often with a dermatoscope), work out what's going on, and agree a plan with you, which might mean prescriptions, a minor procedure or further tests.
Fees vary with the consultant's experience and the clinic's location, and it's worth knowing that any procedure (a biopsy, cryotherapy, a mole removal) is normally charged on top of the consultation. If you already suspect you'll need treatment, ask for the cost of the whole pathway up front so there are no surprises.
NHS dermatology referrals can take months for anything non-urgent, which is a long time to live with something visible or uncomfortable. Privately, you can usually self-refer and be sitting in front of a consultant within days.
