A private CT scan is one of the fastest ways to get a detailed look at bones, organs or blood vessels. The scan itself often takes only a few minutes, and private slots are usually available within days rather than weeks. Most centres do need a referral letter, but many can arrange a quick GP or specialist consultation if you don't have one yet.
What you pay depends on the body area, whether contrast dye is needed and the centre itself. A single-region scan without contrast is the cheapest; multi-region or contrast studies cost more. Typical UK private prices run from around £350 to £900, and imaging centres outside central London are usually at the lower end. Results come back as a consultant radiologist's report, usually within a few working days, and you can take it to your own GP or specialist. If you're comparing centres, check whether the quoted price includes the radiologist report and a copy of your images. At most reputable centres it does.
